Well, I had a good lead and I blew it, fair play to Mark for not losing his focus and for gritting his teeth and clawing his way back to parity (well, that or just for playing better squash than me!).

The gap has been trimmed back yet further... despite alot of slack play from Mark, Austen seemed unable to capitalise. A very tiring and draining battle.

A nice, varied and busy squash contest... felt I played well (but obviously not well enough!) and was reassured, though not comiserated, by the fact that I still had lots of energy left at the end.

Mark, or 'Mr Tin' as he now wants to be known, hit > 50% of shots low... even the ones I thought I'd gifted him. This was a squash match I shouldn't have won but in the end was a comfortable win (9-2's I think in a couple of games?)

Can't remember the scoreline in squash games but I remember that I won (and that it hurt!)

Different strategy this week - invent reasons why I am unable to play squash... "errr, I was away on business this week Mark" (if I can pull this off for the remaining 22 weeks of the year than I will be assured victory... the 2005 squash crown will be mine, oh yes!)

An ego crushing squash victory for Mark and with my shiny new squash racket too (<-- now in the bin). Plenty of energy but never really allowed to get int the swing of things... some very deft little shots from Mark making me look possibly dafter than I am at times. So much for the 0:2 come-back theory... will have change tack to winning the first three games rather than the last three!

Play was postponed (at Mark's request!) under advice from St John's Ambulance about certain death by heat stroke. If it's too hot you can always play in just your undies!

Runaway train? Gazelle-like spriteliness assisted this squash match win in a squash court set to Gas Mark 7. There is no way I can ever lose a squash match ever again... mark my words!

Another 'back from the jaws of defeat' squash match victory... going down 0:2 and then pulling my thumb out. This squash match hurt though... I had to dig deep... getting to that warm part of the year as well which always makes for an entertaining game.

Fiercely contested squash match resulting in much fluid loss and a few bruises (like the squash ball shaped on in my back that gave Mark the second game 9:7 - gutted!). But victory, while a long time in coming, finally materialised meaning that I am back in the lead for the first time in 100 years(-ish) in our mini-squash league.

Not feeling well enough to play squash so I cried off and offered the victory to Mark who, after cash had changed hands, decided not to take me up on my gentlemanly offer.

Parity restored! After fearing that the gap would widen I was able to win this squash match by taking advantage of an over-warmed squash partner! Some good rallies but rather too much slack racket play to be thought of as one of our better matches. Lets hope the recent form and trend continues...

Warmest night yet so the squash ball was quite bouncy which I think worked in my favour... Mark seemed to struggle to get involved in some of the squash rallies (late tea) and I felt quite energetic. The final scoreline was a bit flattering but what the heck! Lost on our post-game game of 'squash penalties' a la AC Milan / Liverpool comeback style!!

This squash match was a bit this way and a bit that... either of us could have won the set... but only one of us did! Mark was fired up which I don't often see and it was reassuring (at least :-/) that he didn't run away with the squash session given his attitude. Need to assert / impose myself on the game more and do so in a more consistant manner. (That or break his legs).

My squash racket was firing on all 12 cylinders and Mark was wallowing in the land of dark despair after a an inertia-doubling late tea. Not much quality squash but quite a few energetic rallies so we only played the three games (of curse I was up for a few more ;-)). Mark said he will play better squash next week... I hope I do too!

Some good and varied squash rallies but far too many unforced errors from me although Mark gave a few freeby points away too, but he wasn't as generous as I was with the points donations :-/ Felt brim full with energy and quite mobile but a bit jittery from too much caffeine earlier in the day... calm down squash dude! But hey... Liverpool are through to the Champions League Cup Final!!

Got back in the running with a busy and determined squash victory that was crafted more by Mark's obsession with the tin rather than my line shots and boasts (which I was conciously trying to mix up). Two of the games were 9-1 which is ver unusual and Mark hit me twice with the ball (a record) so at least some of his forehand and backhand shots were on target! ;-p (Did an hour on the exercise bike before playing... not sure it helped any.)

Gah! The most frustrating squash match on record ever! (Well, that I can remember anyway)... I felt quite spritely with lots of energy and mobility and while Mark's squash shots were quite accurate they were not as accurate as normal. I felt I was in control of the squash match (after the first game) and was disappointed about the loss... must play better squash next week!

A frantic and closely fought squash match (until the last game) with some good good rallies interspersed with some slack shots (from both of us). I was keen not to slip too far behind in the overall scores as I didn't fancy more of a mountain to climb. We played squash for close to an hour at the Morley Sports Centre and my muscles were sore in the morning from the exertions!

A 9:45 start to the squash match this week (on Account of Liverpool playing Juventus... and winning... glory!) I was tired and seemed unable to hit the ball properly (a lot of low shots :-/) and this coupled with Mark's generally very high accuracy meant for a predictable outcome. Next week I won't do 90 mins on the exercise bike before the squash match!!

Not a classic squash game by any stretch of the imagination... I was all to keen to roll over and play dead on court and Mark was surprisingly slow to capitalise on my apathy... but he got there in the end with some excellent squash shots and boasts along the way (some good running during the squash rallies too which is always nice to see!)

What a game of squash! Played at Morley Sports Centre (South Leeds) on a hot sweaty squash court... this squash match was a drag, unpretty and the victory could have gone either way. Some good rallies and but more than its fair share of sloppiness mean this squash contest would best be forgotten. Quickly.

No squash play this week as Mark had a girlie neck problem ;-p

Arguably the highest quality squash match of the year so far... for as long as it lasted as we got turfed off ahead of time :-/ Mark's shot positioning and accuracy were generally outstanding (back to his old form!) and left me stranded far too often. When I was allowed to I played quite well and felt energetic and was therefore disappointed that we were unable to properly finish the match... but them's the rules!

Mark felt his squash form was much improved this week but my main memories (aside from several good rallies and lobs) were of the sound of the tin being struck with some force by the squash ball! While I certainly didn't deserve to win the match I think it's fair to say that Mark deserved to lose it! I need to capitalise better on his lose shots... when he's kind enough to play them ;-)

As squash matches go this wasn't up there with the best of them! The squash ball was sluggish and the rallies were mostly scrappy. I had done half an hour an the exercise bike before playing the game... don't know if that helped but the fact that Liverpool were beating Bayer Leverkusen 2:0 at half time when I left meant my mood was elevated a tad! Played on squash court 4 and then court 5 when we got moved on at 10pm - the move seemed to be the turning point in Mark's game.

Not a high quality squash game although some good rallies (when Mark wasn't hitting the red wooden strip unnecessarily). Match started at quite a frantic pace and soon slipped into a battle of least apathy which I lost! (Played in squash court 4)

Tired, seemingly fast yellow spot ball, closely contested games and long rallies. Squash shoes uncomfortable. (Played on squash court no. 4)
