Freelance Project Summary:
An online postcode to postcode distance calculator scripted in
PHP with either a CSV or MySQL backend data source (all data and
calculation algorithms will be provided).
Technologies Required:
PHP, HTML, MySQL database or CSV data source.
Freelance PHP Project Outline:
www.PostCode.org.uk requires
a php scripted page that allows the surfer to enter the start
postcode and the finish postcode into a simple form. When the postcode
to postcode distance calculator form is submitted the php page
searches the MySQL database (or CSV file if prefered) for the appropriate
record and returns the distance stored against the relevant postcode
- postcode combination. An ASP version of the postcode
to postcode distance calculator is shown on the postcode.org.uk site.
A database will be supplied in MS Access format for conversion
to MySQL format or as CSV file. The file consists of every postcode
- postcode permutation with the associated distances in both miles
and kilometres and measured both as the crow flies and by road. If the above makes sense and you are happy interrogating MySQL
